Home to some of the most magnificent natural surroundings in British Columbia, Squamish is also the sixth fastest-growing community in Canada. The population grew by 22% to 23,819 from 2016 to 2021. As a result, private dwellings also grew to approximately 9,100, which is about a 26% increase from 2016. This continuous growth further solidifies the promising development opportunities in this area.
As the community expands, so does its economy and infrastructure. Squamish plans to increase local employment opportunities and job participation rates so that it is a place where people can live, work, and play. The community also has plans to improve its transit and road systems to ensure accessibility.
